When Will It Be Over ?

The excavation for the Empire State Building began on January 21, 1930. The building officially opened on May 1, 1931. That's 1 year and 45 days.
The construction of the bridge on Ardsley Road/Popham Road over the Metro North train tracks has already taken over 1 1/2 years.

Who wants to guess the completion date. I say 36 months.

Winter Finally Arrived

With college admissions, ACT's and SAT's looming ahead, this picture makes me long for those carefree days of playing in the snow.

All Along The Water Tower

When I think of water towers, the images that come to me are wide open landscapes on the plains of Texas or New Mexico. They’re technically called “elevated storage tanks.”   It may come as a surprise to some people but we have our own water tower right here in Edgemont. This one is at the end of Juniper Lane and was built in 1997.  It is 129 feet tall and holds 750,000 gallons of water. That's a whole lotta water.

Welcome to Edgemont

There are three welcoming signs in our neighborhood. This picture is of the one located on Ardsley Road just east of Lynwood Road. There's another just like it  on Edgemont Place right off of  Pipeline Road. The last sign simply says Edgemont and is between Club Way and Old Colony Road .
It's good to know that these signs are there because otherwise nobody would know they are in Edgemont.

When you Google "Edgemont" the results give you info about our high school along with links to the Edgemont Chamber of Commerce in South Dakota, an elementery school in Utah, as well as a teenage TV series made in Canada in 2000 called "Edgemont."

We Are All One. Peace Out

New Beginnings

The holidays have a way of making you think about family and community.   I live in Edgemont, New York.  Edgemont is really a section in the town of Greenburgh.  Most people don’t even know where Edgemont is.   Edgemont does not have a town, library or community center.  Our community is defined by our school district.
I thought a way of forging a sense of community for everyone that lives here is to start a photo blog about Edgemont.  I hope that this blog with help the residents of Edgemont feel connected even if they are not students.
